Families can try bocce ball at Sept. 30 event hosted by CCSD 89 Special Olympics
This free event is open to all families. At the event, students and their families will get a chance to learn about and play bocce ball.

Spartan Pumpkin Run on October 22 will support physical fitness
Students, families, and friends are invited to run or walk the 3.5-kilometer (2.1-mile) course that begins and ends at the middle school.

Reminder: Phones, smartwatches should be off and out of sight at school
Cell phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices must be kept out of sight in a backpack, purse, or locker during the school day.

Quest Food Management Services provides meal service at all Community Consolidated School District 89 elementary and middle schools.

The 2023-24 school year is starting about one week later than previous years due to the summer construction schedule.

Families can now log on to PowerSchool to view their student’s teacher for the 2023-24 school year. Bus routes are also available by logging on to PowerSchool.

Donate blood August 23 for chance to win $1,200 in home entertainment gift cards
Community members can support the urgent need for blood by donating between 2 and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, at Glen Crest Middle School.

Before- and after-school care available through YMCA, park district
CCSD 89 partners with the B.R. Ryall YMCA and the Butterfield Park District to provide before- and after-school programs for students at elementary schools.

Board will meet to conduct self-assessment on August 12
The Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 12. The meeting is expected to be mostly conducted in closed session.

Registration fee invoices were sent via email on August 1
On Tuesday, August 1, all CCSD 89 families were sent an emailed invoice from MySchoolBucks requesting payment for 2023-24 school fees.

Glen Crest Middle School eighth-grade students Molly Clarin and Aspen Usalis will begin their one-year term at the August board meeting.
