All schools will be closed for spring break March 25-29
All schools will resume on a regular schedule on Monday, April 1.

Deadline to order yearbooks is March 31
School yearbooks are available to purchase through the MySchoolBucks store. After March 31, yearbooks will no longer be available for purchase.

Students, families can join District 89 Day of Service on April 6
Families can sign up to participate from 9 to 10 a.m. or 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on April 6 at Glen Crest Middle School.

Last day of 2023-24 school year for students will now be Friday, May 31
April 29 will now be a full day of student attendance and the last day of school for students will be a half-day on Friday, May 31.

Eighth grade girls basketball completes undefeated season
The Spartans were regular-season and conference tournament champions. The team finished the season with 19 wins and zero losses.

Glen Crest seventh-grade boys volleyball earn conference title
“They are an extremely athletic group of kids. There wasn’t one thing that they couldn’t do at a high level,” said Glen Crest head coach Caroline Stauber.

Letters will be sent to families of new and returning students the week of March 11 via U.S. mail.

Enjoy student musical performances at the annual Music Café on April 20
The Music Café will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, at Glen Crest. The event is open to the community.

Construction at all five CCSD 89 schools scheduled to begin May 31
Construction is scheduled to begin on the same day school will end for students: Friday, May 31. Access to some buildings will be limited throughout the summer of 2024.

CCSD 89 students earn musical honors at regional competition
Twenty seven musicians were recognized for outstanding performances at the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) solo and ensemble contest.

Students will be allowed to safely view eclipse on April 8
The schools have purchased solar eclipse glasses that have been recommended by the American Astronomical Society.

April 24 “Talking 89” session will focus on curriculum and instruction
The next “Talking 89” sessions with superintendent Doug Eccarius will be held at 9:30 a.m. and at 6:30 p.m. in the district office.

This annual survey measures the learning climate and conditions at all Illinois public schools. Families are encouraged to take the survey before March 29.

Save a life! Donate blood on March 20
The next blood drive will be held 2 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20 at Glen Crest. The blood drive is open to the community.

Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. March 18 in the district office
The Board will meet at the CCSD 89 District Office, 22W600 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn. All board meetings are open to the public.

Community invited to see Glen Crest musical ‘Matilda’ on March 15-17
Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday, March 15; 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, March 16; and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at Glen Crest.

Penny Wars raised more than $2,300 to support student mental health
All donations will go to the Child Mind Institute, an organization dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders.

Westfield kindergarten teacher Laura Lipinski is CCSD 89 Educator of the Year
This is Lipinski’s 30th year at CCSD 89. On March 12, Lipinski will be honored by the Chamber of Commerce for making Glen Ellyn a better place to live, learn, and work.
