2025-26 new student pre-registration

  • Pre-registration for kindergartners and students who will be new to the district in 2025-26 is now open.

Enrolling your student is a four-step process. Please follow the directions below.

    1. Confirm your residency

Please click here and enter your address to confirm your residence is within CCSD 89 boundaries.

Please note: These boundaries do not guarantee placement in your home school. Learn more about the District's Administrative Transfer policy

    2. Complete pre-registration through PowerSchool Enrollment

Parents need to begin the pre-registration process by creating an account through PowerSchool Enrollment. You will be asked to provide basic demographic data on you and your student during this process. Please click the link below to start the pre-registration process. Instructions are available in English and Spanish.

    3. Proof of residency

Once you have completed the pre-registration through PowerSchool, you must next verify your child’s age and that you live in the district’s boundaries. Pre-registration is not complete until you have submitted an original birth certificate and the proof-of-residency documents.

When pre-registration is complete, families should call their school to schedule an appointment to submit residency documents. Staff will be available during the school day to accept residency documents. Appointments will be scheduled on or after February 12.

Please wait one business day before coming to the office so that a staff member has time to prepare your paperwork.

Parents need to bring the following:

    • ORIGINAL birth certificate with the seal (copies are not accepted)

    • Proof of residency:
      •  Category 1 (must provide ONE document from category 1)
        • Mortgage papers
        • Signed lease
        • Real-estate tax bill
          • (If the family is submitting an affidavit from a local resident who attests to the registrant living with them at no cost, the homeowner is still required to provide a current mortgage statement, a signed lease, or a real-estate bill.)

                AND:

      • Category 2 (must provide TWO documents from Category 2)

                        Must be current

        • Current gas, electric, or water bill
        • Driver’s license
        • Home/apartment rental insurance papers
        • Illinois Registration Identification Card for your vehicle (it looks like this)
        • Voter registration
    • Illinois Student Transfer Form (if the student is transferring from a public school in Illinois)

You will not be able to complete the full registration process until you have proven residency and been provided a "SnapCode" by the district office.

    4. Submit registration

Once the above is completed at the district office, you will receive an individual “SnapCode” to continue the registration process at home. You will use the account information that you created in the pre-registration step to finalize the process.

Your child’s enrollment will not be guaranteed until the entire registration process has been completed and submitted. Once you have submitted your online information any additions or changes need to be communicated through your child's school office.

Please submit all required physical, dental and vision forms to your child's school as soon as possible.
