Information on fee waivers, free/reduced lunch

As required by law, this notice about free/reduced lunch and fee waivers is being sent to all families in Community Consolidated School District 89.

Free/Reduced Lunch

The application and guidelines used to determine if your family qualifies for free or reduced lunch prices have been posted on the district website at www.ccsd89.org/freereducedlunch. The district follows national guidelines to determine eligibility for free or reduced lunches.

The forms can be filled out and submitted directly to the district office, attention Lauren Parker. A printed application can be supplied by the district office during regular business hours. (Due to construction, forms are not available at school buildings at this time.) Approval or denial letters will be mailed to your home address.

At lunch, students approved for free or reduced pricing must scan their ID card and take a complete meal to qualify. If your child is approved for free or reduced lunch pricing and they do not take a complete qualifying lunch when walking through the lunch line, they will be charged for the cost of the items they do select.

If you have already received a Direct Certification approval letter from Lauren Parker for the 2024-25 school year, you do not need to complete a lunch application.

Fee waivers

The district uses a second, completely separate process to determine eligibility for waiver of school fees.

The district’s fee waiver application is available on our website under the Board of Education tab, policy 4:140-E1 Application for Fee Waiver, or at www.ccsd89.org/feewaiver. The forms can be filled out and submitted with your income verifying documents directly to the district office, attention Lauren Parker.

If you have more than one child in the district, you may submit one application for free/reduced lunch and another application for waiver of fees. Both applications can be submitted at the same time with the necessary documentation to avoid any delay in processing.

If you have any questions regarding the National School Lunch Program application or fee waiver application, please contact Lauren Parker at (630) 469-8900, ext. 3507 or lparker@ccsd89.org.
