From the staff at CCSD 89: Thank you, families
While the announcement that students would not be returning to in-person learning this school year was not entirely unexpected, the news still hurt. We miss your students terribly.
This is not an easy time, but the CCSD 89 staff is committed to continuing to deliver the best possible remote learning through the end of the school.
We know many of you weren’t expecting to suddenly be assistant teachers. We know it’s not easy to balance school with the many other pressing needs at this time. Our staff wants you to know how appreciative we are to have you working alongside us. It’s an honor to partner with you.
From the staff at Community Consolidated School District 89: thank you for your amazing commitment to learning. We couldn’t do this without you.
How-to page: tech solutions and digital library cards
All residents in the 60137 zip code can now get a 90-day digital Glen Ellyn Public Library card to check out online materials during the pandemic. The libraries in Lombard and Wheaton are also offering digital access to their collections. CCSD 89 librarians have created a video showing you how to sign up for an online library card at www.ccsd89.org/howto
The librarians have also created and compiled many other videos that can help solve some common technology obstacles. There is information about Google Drive, Zoom meetings, iPads and more.
Find a free, local drive-up WiFi hot spot
The Illinois State Board of Education has partnered with several state agencies to create an interactive map with detailed information about drive-up WiFi hotspots at schools, colleges, libraries, and other sites. If you’re looking for a free place to connect, you can use the map found here: https://bit.ly/2xpjYz7
Registration open for new, returning students
Registration for the 2020-21 school year is open for both new and returning students. The individual SnapCodes used to register were mailed on March 13. New families will have to prove residency and show an original birth certificate at a later date in order to start school in 2020-21. More info: https://bit.ly/2UTPRsw
