Seven Glen Crest students selected to participate in prestigious music festival
Seven Glen Crest Middle School musicians will participate in an all-day festival Saturday after they were chosen from hundreds of local students who auditioned. The Glen Crest students were selected to play in the annual Illinois Music Education Association District IX Junior Division Festival, which will be held November 9, at Huntley High School.
These Spartans were chosen to be a part of the ILMEA concert:
Band
Dominic Costello (trumpet) 8th grade
Kaitlyn Urbanowicz (euphonium) 7th grade
Orchestra
Grace Bittlingmaier (double bass) 7th grade
Lauren DeNardo (viola) 8th grade
Isabella Dodd (viola) 7th grade
Lorenza Foster-Simbulan (cello) 8th grade
Sarah Goodin (violin) 7th grade
Glen Crest students were competing for a place in this festival against students from Aurora, Algonquin, Elgin, Naperville, St. Charles, Wheaton, and Yorkville. The students all completed a rigorous audition.
The selected students have the chance to rehearse with guest conductors who are considered exceptional in their field. The all-day festival will conclude with a concert at 3 p.m.
Glen Crest band teachers are Katrina Berry and Lev Garbar. Glen Crest orchestra teachers are Kristi Kline and Andrew Ladendorf.
