All CCSD 89 families can now apply for 2021 summer school
Community Consolidated School District 89 is offering expanded summer school for current kindergarten-through-seventh-grade students.
All summer school classes will be held at Park View Elementary School, 250 S. Park Boulevard, Glen Ellyn. Classes will start June 7 and run through June 25. Classes will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday. The summer school program is not recommended for families that already know they will be missing one or more of the weeks of classes between June 7 and June 25.
The 2021 summer school program is not an acceleration program. It is designed for students who need to further review skills and standards that were introduced during the 2020-21 school year.
Although the program has expanded significantly from previous years, there are still a limited number of spots. If you would like to enroll your student, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/4G39vQ1GfdfLVCPGA
The deadline to complete the form is 8 p.m. Sunday, April 25.
If there are more applicants than seats at a grade level, students will be put into a lottery and selected at random. Everyone will be notified by early May whether their student can enroll in summer school.
About summer school
There is no cost for the 2021 summer school program. Transportation (if needed) will be provided. Class sizes will be smaller than during a typical school year. Lessons will be focused on math and reading with social work embedded into every classroom.
Classes will be in-person; there will not be a remote option for summer school. Masks, hand washing, and self-certification tickets will be required. Desks will be six feet apart to the greatest extent possible.
This program will be run by CCSD 89 certified teachers. Arbor View Principal Emily Burnett will be the summer school principal. There will be a registered nurse on staff.
If you have questions about summer school, please contact Emily Burnett at eburnett@ccsd89.org or (630) 469-5505.
