Community approves CCSD 89 school bond infrastructure referendum
Thank you. Thank you for supporting our students, thank you for trusting your school district, and thank you for taking the time to participate in the recent election.
As you may know, the election results show that more than 71 percent of the voters supported the Community Consolidated School District 89 school bond referendum.
This result means the district will be able to complete essential health, safety, and accessibility projects at all five CCSD 89 schools while lowering residents’ tax rate. You can see the full list of projects here: www.ccsd89.org/bondprojects
The majority of the work will occur in the summer of 2023 and 2024. The district will continue to update the community on the progress of these projects.
The district will also continue its traditions of meticulous maintenance and fiscal responsibility.
Many of the systems that will now be replaced were coaxed well beyond their expected lifespan, thanks to the dedicated work of the CCSD 89 buildings and grounds team. The district will maintain this high level of attention to detail with the new systems so they also last as long as possible.
Even with a successful referendum, the Board of Education was able to provide tax relief by allowing a 2008 set of bonds to retire and reducing a 2009 set of bonds. The Board will continue to look for ways to reduce costs while still providing students with an excellent education.
Most importantly: this referendum means students will continue to go to school in a safe, accessible, temperature-controlled environment that allows them to focus on their learning.
Thank you for all that you do - and have always done - to support the students of Community Consolidated School District 89.
